Maintenance
General - Maintenance starts with a first cleaning about 1 week after the grouting of the floor. This cleaning has to be carried out only once with a suitable cleaner (e.g. Lithofin MN Power Clean). Important: always use an acid-free product!
- Allow the floor to dry thoroughly during the next 4 to 6 weeks. During this period it is important to use only a little water to mop the floor to allow the surplus moisture to evaporate from the tiles; also use a product that does not seal the pores of the stone (e.g. Lithofin MN Easy Care Cleaner). This product is always added to the wash water and can be used for future regular cleaning.
- For exceptionally dirty surfaces and stubborn marks, a suitable acid-free product can be used (e.g. Lithofin MN Power Clean).
- When used externally: cfr. above for the first cleaning. Further maintenance is carried out with a suitable product which should not seal the stone's pores to ensure the permeability.
Stoneskin & hand cleft finish
- For the Stoneskin and hand cleft finish we strongly recommend to freshen the colour and structure by a one-off treatment with a colour enhancing impregnation. In case you want to leave the wall cladding with a ‘natural' look then we advise an impregnation with Lithofin Splash-Stop. The products are to be applied with a sponge or brush.
- Dusting of the Stoneskin and hand cleft strips from time to time will be enough as regular maintenance.
- In order to protect the stoneskin finish of the stone a periodical care treatment can be carried out (1x or 2x per month) with Lithofin Easy-clean.
Other finishes (e.g honed, polished, flamed, satino,..) - When the floor is completely dry sensitive areas (kitchen, bathroom, etc.) can be protected with a suitable sealer (e.g. Lithofin MN Stain Stop W).
- In order to protect the honed finish of the stone a periodical care treatment can be carried out (1x or 2x per month) with a suitable product (e.g. Lithofin MN Care Seal).
